Rend Lake is boating paradise

2007 has not only been a year of good news at the Rend Lake Resort, it's been a year of Great News!  On April 30th, Governor Rod R. Blagojevich and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity-Bureau of Tourism announced that Rend Lake had been chosen by consumers as one of the "Seven Wonders of Illinois" in a contest launched at the 2007 Illinois Governor's Conference on Tourism.

In addition, the Illinois Senate adopted a Resolution offered by Senator Gary Forby which proclaimed June 18th as "Rend Lake Day" in the State of Illinois.  This all culminated with a special ceremony and reception attended by elected and local state and federal officials held at the Resort.  Both former U.S. Confressman Ken Gray and the U.S.Army Corps of Engineers were honored during the ceremony for their efforts in making the lake a reality which was completed by the Corps in May, 1971.  In an editorial which appeared in the Southern Illinoisan newspaper on June 19th, they stated "it (Rend Lake) has been accurately described as the region's gateway to tourism by John Reilly, owner of the Rend Lake Resort."

Rend Lake is deer heaven

Tough to top all of that?  Not really.  All you have to do is come and experience why Rend Lake was chosen by the people of Illinois as one of the Seven Wonders.  Painted on the canvas above Rend Lake, you'll experience sunny skies, spectacular sunsets and at night-the milky way galaxy edge on; including shooting starts.  On the water, you'll enjoy some of the best fishing anywhere, and closer to shore, the best hunting anywhere.  You'll never wonder again where to have a great breakfast, amazing lunches, or memorable dinners and buffets.  Hiking, biking...we think you get the pitcure, speaking of which, don't forget your camara.

Sunset on Rend Lake, oh the life

It's hard to believe that the summer has come to a close, but the good news is that fall with its cooler temperatures, beautiful colors and many recreational opportunities is the perfect time to plan an outdoor trip or romantic getaway.  Our award winning Executive Chef Jim Halpin has many unique fall signature dishes planned which we know you'll enjoy.   Also, with football season just around the corner, enjoy our all-you-can-eat family style fried chicked dinner served every Sunday, then enjoy watching your favorite team at Reilly's Lounge on one of our TVs, including our large screen plasma.

Finally, reserve your Holiday Reception or party with our sales staff as soon as possible as dates are already being booked.  You'll love the way we decorate and cater to your every wish.

Come see and experience why the Rend Lake Resort and Conference Center lives up to the reputation of our lake as one of the Seven Wonders of Illinois.
